My Approach

As an integrative counsellor, I believe in tailoring my therapeutic approach to meet the unique needs of each individual. Each person comes with their own set of challenges, and I use a range of therapeutic modalities to best support your journey toward healing and growth. Our work together will be a collaborative process, paced according to your comfort level and personal goals.

In our first session, we’ll focus on creating a safe, confidential space for you to share why you’ve sought counselling. This is an opportunity for you to express your thoughts and feelings while I listen attentively, without judgment. Through reflective listening and thoughtful questioning, I ensure that you feel heard and understood. Together, we’ll identify the goals you hope to achieve through counselling and decide on the number of sessions that will best serve your needs. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy, depending on your situation.

As we continue our work together, we may explore your past experiences, including childhood memories or any past traumatic events that could be influencing your current behaviours and thought patterns. This deeper exploration allows us to understand the roots of certain struggles, so we can begin breaking unhelpful cycles. While this process may sometimes feel challenging, it will always be done in a supportive and compassionate manner.

I focus on the “Here and Now” in the therapy room, as I believe that understanding your current behaviors and emotions often requires looking back at how past experiences have shaped them. By exploring these patterns in real-time, we can gain deeper awareness, paving the way for meaningful change. Change happens when you develop a better understanding of yourself, and it is this self-awareness that forms the foundation for growth.

While I may occasionally offer practical suggestions to improve your situation, I believe that real, lasting change comes from within. Counselling is not about quick fixes; it's about gaining insight into why recurring issues arise and how to break free from them. Ultimately, I believe that sustainable change can only occur when it’s driven by the client’s own awareness and efforts.
